Vitamins

I went to Woodman’s yesterday {I absolutely LOVE that store by the way} and bought some Vitamins. I got a Woman’s 1 a day, some Acai Dietary Supplements, and some water pills. I have never taken water pills, but from my understanding you can take them when you are bloated to lose some of the water weight you are holding onto. I think I might take one {or however many you are suppose to take} before my Holiday Party on Saturday. We’ll see though. I still have to read a little more about when you should take them, the side effects, etc. Have any of you out there taken them before? I got the vitamins because ever since I have been tracking on www.caloriecount.com I have noticed that I have been low in my nutrients almost every day, so I’m hoping this will help it. I’m almost to the point where I’m obsessed with the “grade” it gives me and it really bugs me when I see that I’m low on Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Calcium, etc. I was able to stay within my calories yesterday though and ended up with a pretty good day. I wanted to work out but American Idol kind of got in the way of that. I was going to do it after, but usually when I work out I get a surge of energy afterwards and then can’t fall asleep for a while so I decided to get my workout in this morning instead. I just did a half an hour on the elliptical and I hope to maybe pop in a workout video that I borrowed from my coworker tonight.. after Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice of course. ;-) Or maybe before… we’ll see. It’s so hard to fit everything in when I don’t get home until 5:45pm then have to make dinner, take care of the kids, clean up, etc. I really wish the day had a couple more hours to it! Or maybe weekends were 3 days instead of 2. But don’t we all. I guess I’ll just have to find a way to fit my workouts in. Oh.. and as for an update on how I feel about the scale- the same.. still hate it. After my good day yesterday and my workout this morning I hopped on the scale to see a 2 lb gain! Ugh! I’m not even going to pay attention to it though. It is so different every day. So this time I REALLY am only going to weigh in once a week so it doesn’t keep driving me crazy! New weigh in day = Monday!

  1. Don't let that scale get you down!!! I so know how you feel, I step on it every morning and it's not a good idea. Your weight really does change a lot. Also, have you been stepping on the scale at the same time everyday? You weight can fluctuate 2 or 3 lbs a day the later it gets.

    I forgot to mention something on your last post. I have a really hard time not snacking in the evenings as well, but my trainer told me whenever I get the urge to snack to drink a water bottle first. She said our bodies often confuse being thirsty for being hungry, and usually we just need fluids. If that doesn't seem to help, try getting protein powder or shakes. Getting the proper amount of protein is really important, as it builds muscle and as you grow muscle you burn MORE calories, even when you're not moving. This is more effective than even doing cardio, as cardio only burns the calories while you're doing the workout. That's why it's important to get your strength training in, boot camp dvds and stuff like that... because we need to grow muscle to up the constant rate of calories our body will burn. Anyway, having a protein bar or shake after you work out REALLY helps along your muscle growth and also CURBS CRAVINGS!! Protein makes you feel full!! {And I'm not talking like body builder muscle growth... just getting lean muscle our bodies actually need!}

    Anyway, just thought I'd tell you what my trainer has been telling me :) Don't let that scale get you down! Set lots of little goals for yourself, even something like, "today I will drink four water bottles" or "today I will workout for one hour" will keep your spirits up and make you feel like you can accomplish things! Remember, the little accomplishments lead to BIG ones!! :)

  2. Thank you for the tips Kayla! I actually went to Woodman's to buy some Whey Protien Powder {I chatted with Marcy the other day and she gave me that hint as well} but it was too expensive for me to get right now. I'm not sure if you heard, but Dave lost his job, so we're surviving on only one income right now. I probably shouldn't have even bought the vitamins, but oh well. I also just bought 2 cases of Slim Fast because they were on sale, so I'll just drink those until they're gone and then buy the Whey Protien Powder when I have the money. Is that the kind that you use? I heard if you mix the vanilla powder with some light orange juice it tastes like a dreamsicle! Yum!

    Oh, and I do weigh myself at the same time, every morning, and always wearing the same thing {nothing}. :P I just think the scale likes to torture me. It's also given me 3 different weights before where I step on, step off, and step on again and I'm something different! Not sure if all scales are like that or just my lovely one!

  3. Sounds like you need a better scale :) I did not hear that Dave lost his job! :( Is that what all this handyman stuff is about? That really stinks :(

    I know in regular stores protein powder is like 10-20 dollars for one of those little containers, but we went to a nutrition place that sells the huge conatiners of them, and ours was 30 dollars. Still a lot to pay for a powder but you certainly save money that way!!

    I do not get a notification when you reply, that's the one downfall to blogger. Most bloggers reply with email. If you have it set up to send the comments to your email, you can just reply right from your email and then I get it in my email!!

    Uhm the protein we got isn't whey, it's some multi protein thing that covers all bases and is low - cal. It's not the tastiest stuff in the world, I was surprised... but this is the first time I've ever had protein shakes before so I guess I was expecting it to taste like a real shake :) lol!
